This last week saw the Parkview Bowling Club’s rinks competition take place with the final being played on Thursday night between Ken Morrison and Scott McNeil rinks.
After a close first six ends with only singles being won at each end, Ken’s rink managed to get into a three shot lead by the 11th end.
At 15 ends Ken, lead 15-10 but Scott’s rink managed to pick up the five shots over the next two ends to force an extra end.
Again this end provided some great bowling and Scott’s rink just managed to get the shot to win the Parkview Cup.
On Saturday the club played Monifieth in the annual friendly which resulted in a 115 to 106 victory to Parkview.
On Tuesday, after the Brechin Advertiser went to print, the Angus Senior League started with the club hosting Montrose.
This Friday night sees the start of this year’s Angus League, when Lochee are the visitors.
The club are grateful to McIntosh Donald, Portlethen who have agreed to sponsor the league team for the 2014 season.
On Saturday, the club are away to Canmore in a friendly before the Bowls Scotland Senior ties start on Monday, May 5.
During the Easter weekend, the club held two open days and although Saturday saw a poor turn out Sunday proved different and the people who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves in glorious sunshine.
On Friday, April 18, the club held the seasons’ first hat night and with a good attendance the winners were Ross Alexander and Ena Christie, 22 shots up.
Over the coming weekend, Parkview has signed up to the Bowls Scotland campaign, ‘Friends with Benefits’, and are holding taster sessions each Monday evening during May. Anyone wishing to try bowling please contact the club on 01356 624095 for further information.
