THERE was some festive cheer for Brechin Junior Rugby Club, the Pirates, when the mini age-group members received sponsorship of their rugby shirts by Brechin-based business Land Management (Scotland) Ltd.
Directors of Land Management (Scotland) Limited, Robin and Olga Leslie Melville, were on hand to make the presentation to some of the mini rugby team.
Their two sons, Nicholas and Jamie, play for the Pirates and Robin is a fully paid up member of the veteran team (the Bruces) whilst Olga is club treasurer.
“We were struck by the huge commitments being made by Malcolm, the Colins, Taylor and Dianne as well as Mandy, Gary, Neil and Sandra who give so much time to the club,” said Robin.
“The sense of community is really quite something, as is the whole raft of events they organise, from fund-raising to basic honest fun events such as holding a weekend camping trip and putting on shows at the Pageant and Andover Gala.”
There is a fresh impetus at the club and the recent overhaul and tidy-up of the ground that has happened is clearly a statement of intent by the club - watch this space! It is great to see the numbers increasing at the Pirates although new recruits are always needed. Pop along and try your hand at rugby with the Pirates.
Training takes place every Sunday at 11 am at the cricket ground opposite Andover School.
