THE sun certainly brought the best out of young Team Colin Appleyard rider Ryan Watson at the weekend.
The 125cc rider made the trek all the way to Norfolk to tackle the improved and extended Snetterton track which has had over £3.5 million spent on it.
The sun shone the whole of the weekend in Norfolk and the glorious summer weather brought out a massive crowd who enjoyed some cracking motorcycle racing.
Ryan Watson from Brechin rode superbly all weekend, to claim his second rostrum finish.
Ryan had put in some extra track time at Knockhill the previous week and it certainly paid dividends.
It also helped that he was returning to a track he was familiar with, albeit a much altered one.
Throughout the three days he was on the pace and after Friday’s free practice he lay in second place and following Saturday’s qualifying was fourth fastest, which meant he started Sunday’s race on the front row of the grid.
His manager Robin Appleyard was impressed.
“For a young thirteen-year-old to start on the front row in a British 125cc championship race is a fantastic achievement.
“Not only that but, for a short while, he held the lap record. It all bodes extremely well for the future.”
In the race itself he was on the pace throughout and, in fact, just kept getting quicker and quicker.
As the front two took off Ryan tucked in behind and, whilst he made a valiant effort to catch them in the end, he settled for third and a much deserved place on the podium.
His race is to be televised on Thursday evening (tomorrow) at 7 pm on Eurosport 2 and it is also to be shown on ITV 4 at some point.
Ryan would like to thank all his sponsors and everybody who has helped him reach new heights this season.
If there is any one out there is interested in helping Ryan continue with his racing by the way of sponsorship or would like to now more information on Ryan’s racing programme they can contact Keith Watson by email on firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on 07939241152.
