YOUNG Brechin rider Ryan Watson enjoyed opposite fortunes to those of his team-mates the weekend before last.
As a member of Team Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing with Doodson he rounded off his weekend at Oulton Park with an excellent second place in the 125cc championship.
After suffering a technical problem with the power-valve in the two qualifying sessions he was left to start in fifth on the grid and with work to do.
He got off the line brilliantly and was in contention for a podium from the outset.
He had a race long battle with Cat Green before she seized up leaving him to cross the line for a well earned second place.
Speaking afterwards he said: “I was quickest in free practice but a crash just knocked me back a little.
“Then having technical issues in both qualifying sessions left me on the second row which I was disappointed with.
“However, I got a great start and had a good battle with Cat until she broke down.
“Looking at my times I felt if I could have got away with the winner Luke Hedger early on, I could have battled for the lead. “
Nevertheless second is a fantastic result and it’s nice to thank everyone with some silverware.”
