For 125cc rider, Ryan Watson from Brechin, riding the Silverstone Grand Prix track for the first time at the weekend proved to be a real challenge.
He started well during Friday’s practice but then during Saturday’s second qualifying session the bike’s engine seized, denying him much needed track time.
He eventually qualified fifteenth and then got boxed in at the start of the race and could only make up a couple of places to cross the line in thirteenth place.
This result leaves him seventh in the championship standings which, for a young thirteen-year-old, in his first year of racing at this level is quite an achievement.
Team manager Robin Appleyard commented: “This was a tough weekend for Ryan, but is all great experience, and he continues to develop quickly all the time.
The final meeting of the season is at Brands Hatch in a fortnight’s time.
