Parkview finished off the season with a new competition last weekend.

The format was a 3+2 where a triple and a pair from 12 clubs from throughout Angus competed in a round robin of five games on Saturday with the winners and runner ups qualifying for a knockout on Sunday.

With the weather being kind on both days, some excellent bowling was played on a green which was fitting for the middle of the season resulting in teams from Brechin, Edzell, Parkview and Whitfield qualifying.

The semi-final games between Brechin and Edzell provided some excellent bowling from all players resulting in Brechin winning both matches in keenly contested ties.

Unfortunately the Whitfield team failed to appear due to a serious family matter overnight meaning that Parkview were given a bye into the final.

The final between the two local clubs proved to befitting of a final with excellent bowling from start to finish. In the triples game Parkview took a 5-0 lead after three ends and after seven ends were winning 8-2 before Brechin reversed the score over the next few ends to be leading 11-10 going into the last end where Parkview managed to score a single to tie the match.

In the pairs game, shots were exchanged all the way through with never more than two shots separating the teams and after 12 ends Parkview lead 14-12. Brechin scored three shots over the next two ends to lead by a shot going into the last end with the overall result at stake.

Again another end of great bowling took place before Parkview managed to score a couple of shots to win the inaugural competition by a single shot.
