There was success for several of Brechin Beaver’s swimmers at the Dyce Mini Meet held at Westhill Swimming Pool on Saturday, March 28.
Twelve Brechin Beavers, aged between eight and 11-years-old, made the trip to the competition, which attracts swimmers from north and south of Aberdeen.
The swimmers from Brechin included Maia Birse Archbold, Kenzie McMillan, Rennie McMillan, Heidi Smith, Alex Thomson and Sean Willis (all aged eight). The swimmers in the 10 year-olds group were Jazmine McMillan, Ben Steel and Joel Thomson. Aimee Mackie, Jacob Smith and Liam Willis completed the team as the 11-year-olds.
These local swimmers performed some of their best swims and for many, personal bests (PBs) were achieved in addition to many top 10 placings.
Kenzie came home with two gold medals for the 25m front crawl and 25m butterfly. He also took silver in the 25m breast stroke and bronze in the 25m back crawl.
Aimee Mackie won silver in the 50m front crawl, and she also came in seventh place in the butterfly.
Jacob Smith picked up a gold medal in the 50m breast stroke and silver in the 50m front crawl. He came in eight in the back stroke.
Top 10 swims in the eight-year-old age group came from Heidi Smith in breast stroke (ninth), Maia Birse Archbold in back (sixth) and fly (sixth), Rennie McMillan in back (ninth), Alex Thomson in back (fourth) and front crawl (ninth) and Sean Willis breast stroke (10th) and freestyle (eighth).
Top 10 swims in the 10-year-old age group came from Jasmine McMillan in butterfly (ninth) and back stroke (sixth), Joel Thomson in breast stroke (eighth), Back stroke (seventh) Front crawl (10th). Ben Steel came 11th in back and gave a sterling personal best swim for his front crawl.
In the 11-year-old age group, top 10 swims came from Liam Willis in breast stroke (fourth) and front crawl (seventh).
