Thrilling bowls final at Brechin

For the last two weeks the Homewood Trophy competition between the ladies, gents and club championship singles semi–finalists of both Brechin based bowling clubs, Parkview and Brechin, has taken place.

On Thursday, August 15, after three rounds were played, the final was played at Brechin Bowling Club, between Bob Christie (Parkview) and Alistair Gray (Brechin).

Alistair got off to a flier, scoring 1-3-1-2-1-2 and after six ends lead 10-0. Bob scored ones on the seventh and eight ends, then Alistair scored six consecutive ones from the ninth to the 14th ends, to lead 16-2.

Bob and Alistair scored ones each over the next two ends. Bob then scored a two and a three on the 17th and 18th ends. After 20 ends, Alistair led 20-8.

Bob scored 1-2-1 over the next three ends, with Alistair scoring the winning shot at the 24th end to win 21-12 in a thrilling final, played in the proper spirt by two excellent sportsmen.
