"We deserved more" says Duffy
JIM Duffy felt his side should have come back from Broadwood with one if not all three points on Saturday and, while acknowledging missed chances cost his team dearly, the manager said he was happy enough with the performance, if not the result.
"There is no hiding that the result was a bad one, but, being honest, I didn't think it was a game we deserves to take nothing from," he said.
"I thought we pretty much dominated most of the game, got even stronger in the second half and, had we taken the chances we created, we would have run out comfortable winners.
"However, we didn't put them away and score when we were on top of the game.
"We hit the post early and late in the game and their goalkeeper has had a lot more to do throughout the 90 minutes than ours had to contend with.
"I felt my players worked really hard and deserved to take a lot more from the match than they ended up with.
"Even the winning goal had a great deal of good fortune about it and went against us.
"The ball has spun from an attempted clearance straight to their striker, allowing him a clear shot on goal.
"While I can't complain about the way we played, it is a results business and we have to start turning performances into victories on the road.
"We did exactly what was asked of us in terms of application and commitment, but I thought we just lacked a wee break in front of goal.
"While we can take the plaudits all day long for our performance, it's only results which will keep us up the top end of the table and we want to ensure we are in there challenging in the weeks ahead.
"However, I don't think I could have asked for much more from the players. On another day we might have scored two or three."
This week City face another side they haven't come up against in a few years on league business when Stenhousemuir visit Glebe Park.
The Warriors have made great progress under John Coughlin and are fresh from a defeat of league leaders Alloa Athletic at Ochilview on Saturday.
It will also see a return to the Glebe of two City old boys in the shape of Chris McCluskey, who has been a regular in the Stenhousemuir side since he left Glebe Park, and Ian Diack, who has also been in the Stenhousemuir side regularly since leaving City.
