"The most angry I have been this season"

BRECHIN City manager Jim Duffy admitted that he was the most annoyed he has ever been at Glebe Park this season, following Saturday's uninspiring nil-nil draw - the third blank for his team on the trot.

While there was some comfort from another solid defensive display on the whole, the creative and composed elements in midfield and up front, which the manager has highlighted in recent weeks, were lacking.

The manager, above all, criticised his team's "decision-making" at crucial periods in the game and said that, while he was happy to keep three clean sheets in a row, any side that has done so should have picked up at least a couple of wins.

"I am bitterly disappointed with that performance," he said.

"We looked like we were treading water. A couple of weeks ago at Cowdenbeath I thought we were poor and it was a poor surface and a heavy pitch. We didn't have those excuses to make on Saturday and I am really annoyed with elements of our performance.

"In the middle to the front areas of the pitch we were terrible. I have just said to my players after the game, if you keep three clean sheets in a row, you should be entitled to pick up more points than that.

"Defensively again, I thought we were excellent. The goalkeeper hasn't had one real save to make and I couldn't fall any one of the back four. From middle to front, however, we were really poor.

"There was no creativity and the players you are looking to provide that were off form.

"There were a couple of occasions when Rory McAllister and Stevie Canning created chances and opportunities for themselves, but there was little in the way for the fans to get excited about.

"All credit to Arbroath. They worked really hard in closing us down and that added to us not being as sharp as we should be.

"We were guilty of bad decision-making all round. There were occasions when we should have laid the ball off and it was held and similarly occasions when it should have been held and it was laid off.

"There were just so many times when a pass or cross was needed that our players made the wrong decision.

"If your at home and you are only creating two or three chances that is quite simply not good enough and, from my point of view, while we have had three clean sheets and looked very solid, we need more creativity and that has been very apparent in the last couple of weeks.

"Something has been lacking. It's something I will have to give some thought to and I have told the players that.

"Neil Janczyk is the creative spark in our midfield. However, we have got players who have come in in his absence who can perform a lot better than they did on Saturday.

"Derbies can sometimes really let you down, because the teams cancel each other out, but we have to look at our recent performances and see what we can do to improve upon them.

"Frankly, Arbroath thoroughly deserved their point. It's the most angry I have been this season."
