Rory repays Duffy by banging in the goals
FORMER Scotland Under-21 striker, Rory McAllister, has said there are many more goals to come after netting his 16th of the season against Peterhead last week.
The Brechin City striker says he is enjoying his football more than ever at present and highlights the role played by three people locally in that.
"When you go part-time, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't," he comments.
"I have been very lucky in that I have played more games than I ever have done before and I feel I am giving the manager and hopefully my team-mates, who make a lot of chances for me, something in return.
"Jim Duffy has been great to work with and for. He has encouraged me every step of the way. He stuck by me when we had a sticky spell and I hope these goals have repaid him a wee bit.
"The manager is very experienced and I want to be part of these Brechin City teams that win championships.
"I am doing an apprenticeship as a plumber with local firm James Lammond and Sons and the two guys that run the business, George and Scott McMillan, are big Brechin City supporters. Both of them have been fantastic to work for.
"The football we played against Peterhead last midweek ranks up there with the best we have played this season.
"We have to build more confidence from this and go on and have a right go for the title. "Christmas and the New Year is always a vital time for footballers and I am just happy to be playing for a club that does its best to look after you properly and I am trying to ensure I do my best by them."
Rory will have to notch 16 all over again to catch former City striker Ronnie McIntosh's league goal-scoring record.
The Blairgowrie-born player notched 26 league goals in season 1959-60, a record which stand to this day.
"Rory continued: "I have ten in the league at the minute and I am not interested in records, just winning games in doing as well as we can in the league to get ourselves back in contention for the title."
Brechin City's latest bid to add to their league points tally was put on hold on Saturday, when the match against East Fife at the new Bayview postponed.
