WITH their visitors much below form due largely to injuries and players still off form, Meadowbank Thistle, a much improved side, had no difficulty in taking both points on Saturday when they beat Brechin City 2-0.

WITH both teams keenly alive to the importance of the game, Brechin second on the 2nd Division table and Arbroath third - there was real derby excitement and tension at Glebe Park on Wednesday evening.

Arbroath had the best of the early exchanges, but the homesters fought gamely back to what was a well-deserved draw at 2-2.

Play was frequently tough, with six bookings and two penalties, both for fouls. The attendance was 700.

A staunch supporter of Brechin City F.C., Michael Stormont, his wife Nancy and three-year-old son Barry, left this country by air last Tuesday for South Africa. A plasterer to trade, he goes to a job in Johannesburg.

He was a former member of the Supporters’ Club Committee, Brechin City Football Club Committee and a chairman of the City Club.
