THE success of the Angus Credit Union so far is such that it is to expand its management team just two and a half years after it started operating.
The financial cooperative is on the lookout for both an office manager and a part time development worker after Ewan Allardyce, who fulfilled both those roles, left to become chief executive of the North East Scotland Credit Union.
While he is no
longer employed by ACU, he does intend to be co-opted onto the board of directors in the coming months to further aid the organisation's development.
He's confident of a bright future for ACU and said his move demonstrates the strides made already.
Ewan said: "Angus Credit Union is doing very well. My position will be filled by two new posts, office manager and part time development manager.
"There's a bright future for the Credit Union. There's a solid business plan and ACU will continue as it did, except there will be one and a half members of staff as opposed to one. As a result, this is a move forward.
"In the meantime, there will be no interruption in the service because we've got two volunteers coming into the office every day."
The move is a direct result of an increased level of administration due to ever increasing numbers of people joining the ACU and because the board of directors recognised the need for further development.
Mr Allardyce said: "There's a lot more administration in the office now and it needs a full time employee to look after that.
"It does need a full time development officer but we can only afford part time at the moment. I'll be partly taking on development when I come back via the board."
Part of that development will focus on attracting young savers, with the Smiley Savers scheme for school pupils attracting interest from five schools in the county.
Ewan's move to the North East Scotland Credit Union, which covers the entire Grampian region, is also set to benefit ACU.
He said: "It's a huge credit union and we've got branches all over the place. Everything I learn here will go back into ACU."
