Acrylic abstracts

FORFAR artist William Philp, who studied at Duncan of Jordanstone, the renowned Art College in Dundee, is the latest exhibitor at the Bank Street Gallery, Kirriemuir.

William, who is most often recognised for his realist and figurative styles, has exhibited throughout Scotland and abroad. His exhibition in the Bank Street Gallery, highlights his journey from realism to abstraction.

Philp’s work reflects perhaps the emotional evolution of the man, or indeed mankind. He captures the haunting mood found in the landscape of the Celtic hill and glen. He has more recently been inspired by his immediate surroundings, yet he still focuses on the practical execution of his work. Bold acrylic abstracts have become his trademark.

Philp’s technical journey continues as we see, from time-to-time, his occasional return to the realist genre. This is true especially when working with watercolours.

His one man show runs until June 24. Opening times can be checked at the Gallery’s website -
