ON SATURDAY, May 4, the Presbytery of Angus (Church of Scotland) holds its bi-annual Big Day Out event.
Open to all with on-the-day booking at the door for those not already registered, the Big Day Out will be a day of celebrating all that is good in the life of the church in Angus.
The event is being staged jointly in St Andrew’s and Old and Abbey Churches in Arbroath, the two locations being separated by only a pleasant stroll through the arch of Arbroath Abbey.
Doors will be open from 9.15 a.m., with events beginning at 10 a.m., with opening worship. This will be followed by the keynote address to be given by the Reverend Kenny Borthwick, minister at Wester Hailes in Edinburgh.
Mr Borthwick is an in-demand speaker across the UK and never fails to encourage and excite his audience with his visionary messages and upbeat approach.
Thereafter, there is a wide and varied range of seminars and workshops from which participants can choose, between them covering topics that will be of interest to all.
With speakers and church leaders assembling from across Scotland, this will be a wonderful opportunity for Angus; the kind of event that normally takes place only in the larger urban centres.
In between times, those attending can browse the exhibition stands which will feature a range of local and national groups and voluntary organisations.
With coffee available throughout the day and a packed lunch included in the ticket price, there’s not much left for participants to do other than enjoy the day.
