Archaeology month

SEPTEMBER is Scottish Archaeology Month (SAM) and a perfect time to celebrate Scotland’s awe-inspiring heritage.

This year is the biggest event ever with activities taking place in every local authority area of Scotland for the first time, with opportunities for all the family to get their hands dirty.

Events include talks, tours, exhibitions, workshops, excavations and much more. Thousands of people will be flocking to heritage sites to discover some of the amazing archaeology on their doorstep.

Angus is hosting some of the most exciting events including exhibitions and talks celebrating the anniversary of the birth of the 1st Marquis of Montrose, walk and talk about heritage gardens, a walk through glorious Glen Doll, a Pictish workshop for children or a history tour of Arbroath.

Some events are bookable so don’t miss your chance to see and do something different. Go to the website and see what is available by clicking on the map.

Some events are in partnership with Doors Open Day where previously exclusive properties open their doors or waive entry fees.
