During the time of the excellent art exhibition at the Mechanics’ Institute, visitors were asked to nominate the “picture that you like the best”, a task that they took to very enthusiastically.
Members of the management committee were surprised and delighted to find that each of the 22 exhibiting artists had been nominated, but the picture that received the most nominations was that of Balbirnie Mill, painted by local artist, Robert Reid.
He received a prize of a bottle of wine for his success.
Maybe the young lady, a local lass, colouring at the children’s art table may be a budding favourite artist of the future.
Members of the Mechanics’ Institute Management committee would like to acknowledge with thanks the magnificent display from the Photographic Society.
The ladies of the Arts and Crafts Group from the Damacre Centre once again put on a beautiful display and were of great help in the running of the event.
Thanks also go to the talented musicians of Brechin High School who performed at the preview and renaming of the lower hall to the William Low Hall.
For those who were unable to attend the exhibition or would like to see again, there is a slide show on the events alert page of the website www.brechinmechanicsinstitute.org. The artists are also listed with details of their websites, where available.
