Members of the Brechin community have the chance to join together to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee with a Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday, June 3.
Instead of the usual friendly get-together for a cup of coffee and a chat following the morning service at Gardner Memorial Church there will be something different taking place – a one-day get-together for neighbours across the UK.
From noon onwards the congregation will be participating in the nation-wide Big Jubilee Lunch which they have extended a very warm welcome to the entire community to come along and join in.
When the last amen of the morning has been sung, it will be all hustle and bustle as chairs and tables are carried from the Church Hall, across the road, and set-up in St Ninian’s Square.
People are requested to bring their own packed lunch with the church providing hot and cold drinks and if a picnic does not appeal then why not just pop along and enjoy the company.
The celebrations have no finishing time: it will be over when it is over. During the event there will be live music and other entertainment. The church tower will ring out music from the fifties to let people know there is a celebrations on the go.
The small planning committee is still generating ideas to make the event go with a swing but the outline is in place. There will be tables and chairs for picnickers, teas, coffee and juice will be served in the Church hall and music in the air from about 12.30pm onwards – come one, come all.
