A GROUP of Brechiners are showing that it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still help your community.
Members of the Lunch Club, held at the Damacre Centre for those aged from their 50s up to 93 years-old, have been busy creating bunting to decorate Brechin’s centre during special events.
Mary Dow, from the Lunch Club, said: “We are making the bunting for the town to use at all events.
“They are looking for miles of it.
“We need people to help make the bunting. We need people to draw, cut, collate and to sew the bunting.
“You can help by coming to one of the groups at the Damacre Centre or you can take materials home with you.”
Anyone willing to pop along to help with the bunting can do so by attending the Damacre centre ‘s Lunch Club on a Thursday, from 12 noon to 3 p.m, or by attending the Monday art group from 1.30 to 4 p.m., or the Friday craft group from 10 a.m., to 12 noon.
There is no age limit for helpers so no matter how old or young you are just pop along and find out how you can help.
“We want the bunting to last for years,” continued Mary.
“This is for you, your children and your grandchildren.”
Angus Classic Interiors donated materials for the group to use to make the bunting, which the Lunch Club are very grateful for but they is always looking for more. So, if you have any waterproof material that you would like to donated hand it into the Lunch club on a Thursday.
“The more people that help the quicker the bunting gets done,” explained Mary.
“We would like to be ready by the time the Harley Davidson event takes place but more importantly in time for the Carties in October.
“We want to cover the whole of the town centre, from St David Street right down to the Leisure Centre.
“With two 93 year old members, Mina and Gina, if we can do it then so can you.”
