HAVING enjoyed international success with a piece of choreography Dundee College contemporary dance student Courtney Robertson is bringing her creation to the stage at The Space.

The Angus resident is one of 14 BA dance students who have returned hotfoot from the Netherlands where they performed at the Grand Theatre in Groningen.

The 19-year-old’s fun-filled ironic take on rebellion was the finale of the performance and is now being incorporated in ‘Precipieces’ the degree students’ showcase performance which sees each student creating and directing a piece of dance performed by their classmates.

Entitled “OH, How Original” Courtney’s piece involves three dancers including fellow Angus resident Adele Archibald, of Edzell, Jessica Engberg, of Sweden, and Alison Reid, from Ayr.

With her piece having been well received on the European mainland, Courtney is confident that the dance delivers a fun-filled look at rebellion.

“We’re using multi-layered music by Sam and the Womp, some text, props and great lighting effects,” enthused Courtney, from Arbroath.

Adele and Jessica are also dancing in a piece by Miranda Sheehy (21) a who has created a duet based on the relationship between twins and how it could change over time - from their shared space in the womb through to growing up.

The choreographer is employing a range of music for her piece, from Natureland, by Amon Tobin to jazz-influenced guitarist Kaki King via Iceland’s Sigur Ros.

Miranda’s piece also proved popular in the Netherlands.

‘Precipieces’ runs on Thursday and Friday, October 25 and 26 at The Space at Dundee College Kingsway Campus; curtain up at 7.30 p.m, bar opens at 7 p.m.

Tickets are free, available at the door half an hour before the performance.
