Edzell all set for Gala day

Organisers of Edzell Gala will be hoping for dry weather as celebrations kick off on Edzell Muir from 12 noon this Saturday.

The Gala Queen, who will be crowned at 12 noon at Inglis Hall, was drawn from the nominations by Bel of Bel’s Butchers and is Karen Bertram.

The attendants, selected from Edzell Primary School are Olivia Howe and Olivia Swinscoe.

Karen will take part in the fancy dress and best dressed bike procession along the High Street, accompanied by Howe of Means Pipe Band.

A whole host of stalls and activities will be available, along with a full programme of events- including dancing displays, Zumba displays, pet show plus much more.

It won’t just be on August 4 that Gala celebrations will be taken place. Councillor Bob Myles will turn quiz master on Thursday, August 9.

Inglis Hall will host a flower show on Sunday, August 12 from 2pm to 4pm, schedules are available in the local shops. Sunday will also see a fun run go through the village.

The Panmure Arms Hotel will host a music night on Saturday, August 25 from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £3, or £10 for a family of four. Participating musicians get free entry, so organisers have urged musicians to “bring your guitar, violin, songbook and join in.”
