FOLLOWING on from the success of last year, artists, both professional and amateur, are invited to submit entries for the annual ART @ THE MECHANICS’ exhibition, this year being held from June 11 to 23.
The exhibition will coincide with the Olympic flame passing through Brechin on June 12. It is a community event and the ladies of the Brechin Arts and Crafts Group will be exhibiting.
To make the exhibition even more interesting there is a wider range of prices and a section on “Pre-loved Art” – if anyone has a painting that they have inherited or no longer wish because it does not fit into a new house or new décor, they are invited to submit the picture for sale in the exhibition on the same terms as the original works by the artists.
The Hanging Committee has also decided to have a section on works of art that are not framed in order to give maximum support to artists for whom finance is an issue.
Purchasers can then complete the picture with a framing technique to suit their own budget and position.
The committee will ensure these innovative departures from the usual art exhibitions enhance the quality of the exhibition and make it a “must visit” venue.
The exhibition is part of an on-going revitalisation of the City of Brechin.
It is also a means of determining an optimum use for the Mechanics’ Institute, a Victorian building owned by the community and run by a volunteer Trust made up of members of the community.
