Exciting pageant planned

As we approach the middle of May and the apple blossom settles on the ground the Brechin and District Round Tablers are finalising the arrangements for this year’s Pageant, which this year takes place on the June 2 between 12.30pm and 4pm on the Public Park, Park Place, Brechin.

“We are hoping that you will be able to find some of your old favourites and some new events and stalls to entertain you on the day,” explained Round Table chairman Ian Atkinson. “The Brechin City Pipe band will be playing in the arena throughout the day and local sporting clubs will be demonstrating their skills and encouraging new members to join in the fun.

“We also have a brand new event for 2012, after listening to the public demand on Facebook, we are going to run a ‘Man vs Food Challenge’ in the main arena! Why not enter with a couple of your friends if you think you are a quick eater, or maybe just really, really hungry? Entry is £5 per team of three and can be made on the day at the Park, there will be a great prize for the winners courtesy of Scotmid, one of our sponsors.

“We are also happy to announce this year’s Pageant prince and Princess’s from Brechin High School. This year’s Pageant Princess is Sophie Fyfe, with her attendants Lucy Mackie and Katherine Hannah. The 2012 Pageant prince is Jordan Boyes. Congratulations to all of them.

“We are still looking for volunteers to help set up the Pageant Marquees and mark out the arena. If you feel you can spare a couple of hours to help out at one of the main community events in the town please contact the Round Table on brechin.pageant@gmail.com or contact Ian Atkinson at Crystal Kitchens in the High Street.

“We look forward to as many people as possible coming along to the Pageant on June 2 between 12.30pm and 4pm to have a great time with friends and family.”
