A talk on the history of Glenesk is set to take place at Glenesk Folk Museum this Saturday (June 29) at 3 p.m.
The presentation will be given by Gilbert and Agnes Lowden.
“The Lowdens have immersed themselves in the local history of Glenesk,” explained Maria MacDonell of the museum’s working group. “They are hosting get togethers every four weeks. It is a chance for people to enjoy Agnes and Gilbert’s extensive knowledge and also a chance for people to share their stories of Glenesk.”
Agnes added: “We welcome old friends and new faces. On Saturday we are going to be talking about and sharing information about glen characters, glen worthies whose lives make this history so fascinating. We would be very grateful if people could book in advance by phoning 01356 670 242 so we know how many would like to come.”
Other dates for Glenesk Histories are Wednesday July 24, Wednesday August 21, Saturday September 21 and Saturday October 19, all starting at 3 p.m. A special slide show event for Angus Heritage week will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 14.
All the events are free and donations are very welcome towards the continuing work of conserving and displaying the huge collection of the Glenesk Folk Museum created over 50 years ago by well known glen figure Greta Michie.
