FOR the past two weeks library users have been giving their views on new opening hours for Angus’ burgh libraries.
Changes include a half day closing, a 10 am opening time and earlier closing times on some weekdays to concentrate service on the busiest times at each of the council’s seven burgh libraries.
During the past fortnight, customers going in to burgh libraries have been asked to fill in a short survey to indicate if they would like the half day closing to mirror each community’s half day business closure or if they would prefer it to be another day.
There is still time to submit views as survey forms will be in the libraries until Wednesday, February 29. The council will then review the feedback from customers to determine which day of afternoon closure is preferred in each burgh library.
The proposal to change library opening hours reflect the feedback from Angus Council’s 2012-13 budget consultation which revealed that 74% of respondents agreed that hours of libraries, ACCESS offices etc should be reduced to reflect pattern of business.
The new timetables for each library will be announced at the beginning of March but they will not come into effect until Monday, April 3.
