A friendly and enthusiastic band of 14 amateur artists, until recently a sub group of Prime Time, have set up an independent club in Kirriemuir called the Thrums Art Group.
They meet every Thursday in St Andrew’s Church Hall from 2 pm to 4pm. The group values the friendship and support of like minded men and women and don’t take themselves too seriously. They try to help each other with advice on techniques and materials and are free to draw/paint whatever subject they wish using materials such as watercolour, acrylic, pastel, gouache, coloured pencils etc. There is a small annual subscription of £6 and a weekly contribution of £3 (£1 if you can’t come). This pays for the hire of the hall, refreshments and at least two social events – usually a lunch out for the whole group. There is no restriction on age or ability and you won’t be charged an annual subscription until you decide that art is for you. Why not drop into St Andrew’s Church hall on a Thursday 2-4pm or call convenor Muriel Farquharson on (01575) 572474 or Heidi Findlay (01575) 570089.
