Plans unveiled for Easter event

Brechin Retailers’ Group can now announce full details of the ‘Easter in the City’ event that will take place throughout the city centre on Saturday, March 30.

This year’s star attraction will be a display of vintage vehicles that will be descending on Brechin from all over Angus and beyond.

It’s estimated that over 20 vehicles will be on display in the High Street and the Church Street car park. The High Street will be pedestrianised during the event.

Numerous events will also be taking place across the town centre throughout the day. The City Hall plays host to a coffee morning between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., as well as soup sale between 12 noon and 2 p.m.

The City Hall is also the venue for a Table Sale between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., along with a Tombola Stand raising funds.

The event will also play host to the first ‘Brechin Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’.

Tickets are priced at £4 and include a sandwich, sausage roll, crisps, cake, fruit, juice as well as the obligatory Creme Egg. Tickets are available from Sweets & Treats in Swan Street or Les Turriff in St David Street, Brechin.

Throughout the day face painting, a bouncy castle and a puppet show will also be available to entertain families.

Following the success of last years ‘Easter Bonnet’ competition, children and adults alike will again showcase their artistic abilities by submitting their bonnets to the Town House Museum in the High Street where prizes will be awarded for the best entry.

The judging of the bonnets will take place at 12.30 p.m., by ‘The Queen’!

And who can miss the chance to roll their Easter Egg down the High Street? Bring your eggs along and see how far yours will go before breaking.

Brechin’s ‘Easter in the City 2013’ is set to provide an entertaining family day out. Join in the fun, and let’s put the heart back in the City of Brechin.
