Album launch at theatre

THE newly renovated Gardyne Theatre proved a great hit with theatre-goers in its first year of opening after a £48m refurbishment.

Education chiefs at Dundee College viewed the re-launch of the building as not only a valuable educational resource but also an important community resource.

The college maintains a huge commitment to the performing arts as evidenced by the launch of the Scottish School of Contemporary dance in the 1990s, followed by the opening of The Space, the award-winning dance and theatre complex, in 2001.

The newly-opened Gardyne Theatre has already had a varied programme during the last year - from Ricky Ross to Scottish Opera - and also hosted the new Dundee Jazz Festival.

The new year gets off to a great start with local band Anderson, McGinty, Webster, Ward and Fisher launching their debut album with a concert on January 28.

The band recorded the album in the state-of-the-art studios at Gardyne Campus, linked to the theatre..
