JOAN Keith, who for years has been presenting Irish and Scottish Country artistes in concerts in Angus, is delighted to be presenting Declan Nerney for the first time in the new Strathmore Hall at Forfar Mart.
Declan will be in Forfar on Saturday, October 1 - and tickets are now on sale.
Declan has been on the road for 22 years with his own band of excellent musicians. He still remains as one of Ireland’s top entertainers and his music lives up to the slogan “something to suit all tastes” as he provides in his extensive repertoire a variety of country, modern and traditional Irish music, middle of the road, rock ‘n’roll and comedy.
Declan (pictured right) was born in the heart of Ireland in Drumlish, Co. Longford, at a unique period of time in the music scene worldwide.
A revolution in rock and pop brought us The Beatles, Elvis, and the Rolling Stones, whilst in Ireland the magnificent showband boom was about to explode.
His music has taken him to many corners of the globe including Canada, USA, China, Spain and of course the UK where he is always delighted to be visiting in Scotland.
Not that Declan is any stranger to Forfar. Four years ago he was playing in the area and he presented Andrew Mitchell Junior with a ploughing trophy that he won in Ireland.
Declan has strong farming roots and still lives on the farm where he was born.
His love of vintage tractors, of which he has a collection is bringing him again to the Angus area next year.
Stewart Butchart, who looks after the vintage tractor section at the Angus Show, persuaded Declan to visit the show in 2012 and judge the vintage tractor section.
Many of Declan’s loyal fans follow him to all his shows so Saturday, October 1 will be a busy night.
Joan already has bookings from Northumberland, Helensburgh and as far north as Thurso. Best get your tickets early.
