SINGERS and dancers from the Forfar and Kirriemuir area are currently rehearsing for one of 2012’s most eagerly-awaited local musical events – Rising Youngstars’ production of Guys & Dolls.

The Rising Youngstars are aged from 5 to 18 and their previous shows (including Oliver!, Les Miserables, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Beauty and The Beast) have been very popular – and all the signs are that Guys & Dolls will be another hit!

“The cast have been practising hard for several weeks now and, although it’s still early days, everything’s shaping up well for our Guys and Dolls,” said Fiona Retalic, principal of the Rising Youngstars junior musical theatre group. “The youngsters who are taking part in this show are all great singers and dancers and performing a top Broadway musical will certainly show their talents to the full.”

Guys & Dolls tells the story of the unlikely romance between Sarah Brown, a straight-laced member of the Salvation Army, and gambler Sky Masterson – a love story with, of course, some fabulous song and dance numbers thrown in, including ‘Luck Be A Lady’ and ‘Sit Down, You’re Rocking The Boat’.

Rising Youngstars’ production of Guys & Dolls is being performed at Kirriemuir Town Hall at 7.30pm from Wednesday, February 8 until Saturday, February 11. Tickets will be on sale soon – more details to follow.
