On Saturday night Nigel Don, SNP prospective Scottish parliamentary candidate for Angus North and Mearns lent his support to young local musicians in the Mechanics Institute.
Brechin band Crash Down members Paul and Peter Jamieson and David Shanks had organised a gig where they and 3 other bands from Brechin and Laurencekirk got together. Paul said:
“Our intention is to get together to play music and promote the bands. I’d like to see a decent music scene for younger musicians develop in Brechin.”
Nigel spent some time with the musicians while they were setting up, commenting:
“Music in all its form is celebrated widely across the constituency and, with my background in music; I am delighted to have had the chance to meet such enthusiasts. I am impressed with the initiative these young people are showing. They obviously know their stuff and I wish them every success.”
