With Brechin Music Fest getting closer, community councillor Wendy Coutts updated The Brechin and District Community Council about the progress made for festival, which takes place on August 30 and 31.
Wendy explained: “The first Brechin Music Fest is being developed and is well underway.
“The support we have received from the community so far has been amazing.
“The last fund-raiser held at the Nova sold over 150 tickets.
“Bill Butchart, one of the original DJs for Flicks, provided a non-stop night of entertainment.
“Organisers were delighted that so many people took the initiative and turned up in costumes from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
“A further event is planned for the Saturday, June 15, in the City Club.
“The group has also received financial support from businesses in the town and many Brechin folk have pledged their support for the weekend.”
Confirmed to be attending the Music Fest are The Complete Stone Roses and The Trade, a Forfar-based band. Both will perform at the City Hall.
Tickets for The Complete Stone Roses are priced at £16.50 with ticket outlets to be announced as soon as they have all been confirmed.
Over 350 people will be able to see The Complete Stone Roses when they come to Brechin, with the festival organisers being able to secure the use of the balcony at City Hall by Angus Council.
Concluding, Wendy added on behalf of the organising group: “This is a first for us and we hope that it will become an annual event on Brechin’s calendar.”
