The City of Brechin Pipe Band will be providing the people of Angus with a great night’s entertainment when they welcome the Grade one Scottish power Pipe Band to the Reid Hall, Forfar, on Saturday, September 21. They are led by pipe major Chris Armstrong and lead drummer Barry Wilson of Scottish Power, who finished third at this year’s World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green. Also included in their ranks is local former world highland dancing champion David Wilton.
Chris Armstrong is an accomplished solo piper with past successes including winning the Bratach Gorm at The Scottish Piping Society in London, first in the former winners MSR at The Argyllshire Gathering and he has also been a gold medalist at The Northern Meeting.
Lead Drummer Barry Wilson also boasts an impressive C.V. with 40 major Drum Corps championship wins - including 12 world drum corps wins, 11 of which he won consecutively.
He has also won the world solo drumming title twice at junior level and twice at adult level.
Also appearing on the night will be dancers from The Delma Wilson and Nicola Grant Dancing schools.
