The CITY of Brechin pipe band held their seventh annual solo piping and drumming contest in Brechin High School on Saturday.

It was a busy day with approximately 70 entries playing in all sections of the contest which started at 9am and ran until 4.30pm.

Prizes were presented by Lord Dalhousie a supporter of the band. Thanks is given to all who donated in any way to the running of this contest. Pies to help feed all the competitors were provided by Strathmore Foods.

Results were as follows: Over 18 years: Piping MSR (Charlie and Liz Murray Quaich) - 1, Craig Black, Brechin; 2, David Wright, Westhill. Drumming Msr (Brechin Drum Corps Shield) - 1, Lochlan Gibb, Aberdeen; 2, Scott Walker, Peterhead, 3, Grant McIntosh, Brechin.
