Edzell Church is delighted to be hosting one of the finest of local choirs on Thursday, December 6.
Fetterresso Choir comprises 18 singers, with all choral parts well represented.
Under the direction of choirmaster Ian Gillis, the choir’s ‘bread and butter’ job is to lead the singing at services in Fetteresso Church.
The Christmas concert gives an opportunity to explore other music and present different skills.
In addition to this annual event, the choir has presented other concerts and visited other venues in the area.
A particularly exciting occasion for the choir was the opportunity in 2010 to lead the singing – hymns and anthems – at Crathes church in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.
The choir’s programme in Edzell Church will feature a selection of joyous and melodic music featuring carols old and new.
Some of the composers ‘on show’ will probably be unknown but names such as Joel Raney and Lloyd Larson have become very well known to the Fetteresso audience.
British composers do of course feature and John Rutter’s ‘The Colours of Christmas’ will be in this year’s programme.
In addition to the chorus items, there will be solos and duets by professional singing teachers Jean and Peter Webster.
Organist and choirmaster, Ian Gillis, will accompany the choir on keyboard and piano and local clarinetist Lesley Clark will also add the colour of that lovely instrument to the music.
The audience will also be involved, joining in with some traditional carols before enjoying the festive refreshments which will be served after the concert.
The concert starts at 7.30 p.m.
Tickets, costing £5, can be obtained from Edzell Post Office and the church office.
