TOP IRISH recording star John McNicholl and his band are in concert at the Strathmore Hall, Forfar on Saturday, March 30.
John was born and raised in a small village called Foreglen in Derry in the north of Ireland.
His first taste of stage performance began when he was a young boy in his local school. Amateur musicals and plays gave John an opportunity to showcase his early talents for singing and acting and these were noted by many of his tutors. Soon John was being offered more prominent parts in these productions including some lead roles. Later John would join the Foreglen Folk Choirband.
In his teenage years John worked hard in school and grew up listening to great country artists from both America and Ireland. He took a very different path a few years ago deciding he would become a chef. He achieved a promising status in this new career but his hunger to get on the road and perform some of his most loved songs was too great to shy away from.
A little over three years ago John gave up his love of cooking to pursue his passion for music - and he has never looked back. John’s welcoming stage presence and natural vocal technique began to impress audiences that grew in size and enthusiasm rapidly.
Tickets for the Forfar date are available from Joan at 01356 624430.
