LOCAL five piece Celtic rock band Makinadin have two gigs lined up for Montrose over the next week.
They will be in the Market Arms Bar on Sunday, February 19 from 6 - 9 pm and in the Picture House Bar on Saturday, February 25 from 9 pm onwards.
Makinadin are a five piece Celtic rock band comprising Mark Lumgair on pipes, Gordon Andrew (percussion), Hannah Coutts (fiddle), Kevin Thomson (lead guitar) and Scott Anderson (bass guitar). They play high energy pipe and fiddle tunes with a rock twist.
They originally formed in 1999 thanks to Robina Addison to fill in a slot for her open air dancing show at Links Park, Montrose, playing in front of 1500 people, They managed to top that a couple of years later when they played to 2000 at the Waterfront Theatre in Belfast.
There have been a few changes of members over the years, most recently when they invited Hannah to play fiddle and Kevin to play guitar. Both are accomplished musicians and have been an immense source of inspiration to the band, giving them a new lease of life as far as the music is concerned.
The band takes their inspiration from the likes of Wolfstone, Peatbog Fairies and any Celtic rock music - don’t miss them and a great night of foot-stomping, live music.
