The 81ST Arbroath and District Musical Festival ended on a high note for 11-year-old Matthew Crabb, who attends Maisondieu Primary School.

Matthew won the trophy for the 11-and-under 13 piano class, The Advanced Recital Class, The Mozart/Haydn Sonata class and also the Adjudicators award for achievement. Matthew also had a share of the Tomala Piano Scholarship for the highest mark in a solo piano class.

This year he also shared success with his sister Lucy Crabb(8) also a pupil of Maisondieu Primary School.

Lucy and Matthew teamed up together and won the Duet class where Matthew played Trombone and Lucy the Tenor Horn. Lucy went on to win the Grade 3-4 recital class and the Brass under 12 solo class. Both were asked back to play in the Gala Concert on the Saturday night where they showed their huge talent to a very appreciative audience. Both are now getting ready for the Aberdeen Festival in June where they both hope to do well and perhaps add to the trophy cabinet.
