DAVID Francey, together with Mark Westberg, will be the guests at Montrose Folk Club next Tuesday evening (September 11) in the Links Hotel, Montrose.

Although born in Ayrshire, David is now one of the biggest stars of Canadian Folk music. Together with his family he emigrated to Toronto at the age of 12.

Having been a carpenter for much of his working life, David turned to music full-time in 1999 after the release of his first CD entitled Torn Screen Door. He is now recognised as one of the finest singer-songwriters in North America.

The straight forward songs of David Francey tell honest stories of real people and real places. Poetic perception and a keen eye for the heart of the matter are trademarks of David and his music. On his current tour of the UK, David is accompanied by Mark Westberg who plays some mighty tasty guitar. Growing up in Virginia, Mark’s early influences were Southern Rock, Blues and Country, including The Allman Brothers Band.

In concert, David Francey is a singer and storyteller. His rye humour and astute observations combined with his open-hearted singing style have earned him a loyal and growing following. He has appeared once before at Montrose Folk Club during his first full UK tour three years ago.

Most of the audience that night were knocked over by the performance which for many was the Gig of the Year at the club. No-one who loves great songwriting should miss the opportunity to hear David next Tuesday. Everyone is welcome; doors open at 7.30pm with David on stage at 8pm.
