LENA Martell will be performing on Wednesday, April 10 at 2.30 p.m. in the Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath.
Scottish born Lena has recorded over thirty albums, had her own BBC network television show with twelve and a half million viewers over a ten year period on Saturday nights.
Lena had a number one UK single with “One Day at a Time” in 1979.
Her gospel-tinged country cover of the song written by Marijohn Wilkin and Kris Kristofferson proved to be an unlikely success at the height of disco and new wave, topping the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in November 1979.
Lena was British TV personality for four consecutive years and she has silver, gold and platinum discs.
Lena has played on Broadway, London’s West End musicals and a sell out season at The London Palladium where her box office matched Shirley Maclaine and Bette Middler.
Lena was delighted as she admires both these entertainers.
Lena also played Las Vegas and has performed at most of the concerts halls around the world.
Sean Connery Quoted at the Edinburgh Festival 2004: “The best singer not to record a Bond sound track was Lena Martell”
