A YOUNG Brechin pianist has rounded off a year of music festivals with a successful turn at an Elgin festival.
Matthew Crabb (11), who is a pupil at Maisondieu Primary School, has taken part in a number of music festivals over the year, where he has performed admirably.
His festival year began in March where he he enjoyed great success at the Arbroath Music Festival, followed by more success in the Aberdeen Music Festival in May.
And he ended the year with a fourth place in the very prestigious Elgin Piano Music Festival.
Matthew had to play in the first round against a field of very talented local, national and international pianists and impressed the judges enough to be put through to the final four where he again impressed the judges with his mature playing.
He has also been taking his Associated Board Piano exam, in which he gained a distinction with 137 marks out of a possible 150.
Matthew is now busy getting ready for 2013 and the Arbroath Music Festival, where he is aiming to defend the titles he won in this year.
