A classical pianist has raised money for the maternity department at Ninewells by holding a concert showcasing her talents.
Christina Lawrie from Broughty Ferry had a baby girl, Mairi-Anna, in May 2011 in Ninewells and wanted to do something to give back to the department who had looked after her so well.
Christina organised a concert at the High School of Dundee and performed, with her husband Marcus Barcham-Stevens who is also a talented musician, a programme of music that included Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata and sonatas by Schumann and Handel.
A grand total of £750 was raised through ticket and CD sales and from donations.
Christina handed over the cheque to NHS Tayside Head of Midwifery Kay Forsyth and Specialist Registrar Dr Lisa Scott last Friday.
Kay said: “We are very grateful to Christina and her husband for this very generous and wonderful donation to the maternity department.”
