PREPARATIONS have started for Tayside Symphony Orchestra’s first concert of the year which will be held on Saturday, February 5 in the Reid Hall, Forfar, starting at 7.30 pm.
Entitled ‘February Festival of Light Music’ the programme consists of a wide range of well-known musical items, including selections from the shows of Cole Porter and Richard Rogers, a Gilbert and Sullivan medley, an interesting interpretation of ‘Ilkla Moor’ and ‘A Fantasia on Auld Lang Syne’.
Ron Walker, TSO conductor, said: “Traditionally this concert has been well attended by our loyal supporters who are probably looking for a break from the winter weather.
“To cheer them up we have deliberately chosen items which have been popular over the years.
“We are certain this programme will appeal to a wide range of musical tastes, so get your ticket now to avoid disappointment.
“I should say that a similar event last year attracted an audience in excess of 600, so you’ll see what I mean about getting your ticket early.
“As usual we will run a bus from Montrose and Brechin to Forfar at a nominal cost of £4. Potential travellers should contact John Stevenson on 01674 676492 as soon as possible.
“I look forward to joining the audience in some refreshment at the end of the concert.
“Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our loyal supporters compliments of the season.”
Tickets will be on sale soon from the Toy Castle, Castle Street Forfar; Hoggs, High Street, Montrose; Print Matters, Swan Street, Brechin; Adagio Music, High Street, Brechin or from any TSO member or committee member. Some tickets may be available on the doors (which open at 6.45 pm) on the evening of the performance.
