Busy year as Society gets set to mark 50 years

Brechin Amateur Operatic Society (BAOS) is gearing up for a busy few months as they carry out fund-raising, and prepare for their next show.

The group are set to perform ‘The Producers’ by Mel Brooks in March at the City Hall.

The show, which BAOS started rehearsing in September last year, will run from March 5 to March 8, with a 7.30 p.m. start each night.

The production team for the performance is the same team for the past four shows, for They are as follows:-

Producer, Graeme Baird; musical director, Gordon Smith; and choreographer Liz Smith.

Before getting on stage to entertain their audiences, BAOS members will be busying themselves with a variety of fund-raising endeavours in aid of the society.

The first takes place on January 31, at Brechin Bowling Club. BAOS will host a race night, with tickets for the event priced at £5, which includes stovies and entries into a raffle.

In February, three fund-raising events will take place at the City Hall on Saturday, February 15. The first will be a coffee morning that run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. At 2 p.m., there will be a bingo afternoon at the hall, which will run until 4.30 p.m.

Their final fund-raising event will be a ceilidh at the City Hall in the evening, starting at 7.30 p.m. and finishing at midnight.

The society are also gearing up to mark their 50th anniversary in the September, with a special anniversary show planned to celebrate the occasion.
