THE Scottish musical play Five Pound and Twa Bairns opens the new year at Dundee Rep Theatre, running from Thursday, January 12 to Saturday, January 14.
This new production tells the story of three women from very different backgrounds with nothing in common, who are united by the loss of a family member on the tragic night of December 28, 1879 - the night the Tay bridge collapsed.
Written by Scottish playwright Mike Gibb, whose plays on Scottish themes include Mother of All the Peoples, Clarinda and Doorways in Drumorty, it will feature music by Mairi Paton.
The next production at the Rep in the new year is Spirit of Adventure - the first of two plays in A Play, A Peh and A Pint from Tuesday, February 7 to Saturday, February 11.
Following on from last year’s success, the Dundee Rep Ensemble is teaming up with Oran More, Glasgow’s ground-breaking theatre venue, to produce another two specially commissioned plays. The second, Forfeit, runs from Tuesday, April 3 to Saturday, April 7.
