Craignathro Farms Sponsor Strathie Clan

Strathmore Community Rugby Trust has announced that its unified rugby team, the Strathie Clan, has a new sponsor in the form of Craignathro Farms.

The three-year deal will help cover the training and match costs of the team, and includes a new playing shirt, which was presented to some of the players and enablers by Craignathro Farm’s Matthew Steel at a training session just before Christmas.

The shirt, as well as featuring the Craignathro Farms logo, uses the Earl of Forfar’s tartan in the design, for which it has been given special permission by HRH The Earl of Forfar himself. The players were all delighted with the shirt and are looking forward to wearing it at their next match.

The Strathie Clan is a team that allows adults with additional support needs to play alongside players without a disability, who act as enablers at training and matches.

The team trains on a Wednesday night between 6pm and 7pm. It is always keen to welcome new players so if you would like to get involved or know someone who would, get in touch by emailing [email protected].

The Strathie Clan was established in 2019 and there is a unique bond and friendship between everyone involved with the team. The sessions provide regular opportunities for players to meet, socialise and take part in physical activity, with the values of rugby at the heart of everything they do.

Maggie Lawrie, Community Trust Manager, said: “We are delighted to welcome Craignathro Farms on board as a sponsor for the Strathie Clan. The support they are providing is vital to allow us to continue to deliver the project.

"The money will help fund training and match costs, including travel and facility hire and allow us to continue to deliver the project at no cost to participants, thus reducing barriers to entry.

"We are very grateful to Matthew and the wider team at Craignathro Farms and look forward to a long relationship with them.”

Matthew Steel added: “We are delighted to be able to play a small part in supporting a great local initiative. We admire not only the volunteers who allocate their time to run the Trust but also the remarkable individuals who turn up and take part in an activity they enjoy.”
