Angus Midlands League clubs aim to get back after near wipeout

Carnoustie Panmure are aiming to brush off the disappointment of last weekend’s postponed fixture with Tayport when they travel to face Dundee Violet.

Panmure had been looking forward to the visit of Eddie Wolecki Black’s Fifers on Saturday, only for Laing Park to fail an 11am pitch inspection.

They were far from the only club to suffer from the weekend’s weather, all but one Midlands League game being postponed.

The only match which did survive saw Arbroath Victoria rack up an impressive 4-0 away victory at Letham.

Ross Fraser opened the scoring for the Vics before a Craig Tosh double and a Connor McFarlane strike rounded off the win.

Attention for all Angus clubs now turns to this weekend’s round of games, the last before the league stops for a short break and resumes on January 8.

Arbroath Vics will look to build on their weekend win when they return to Ogilvy Park to host Dundee St James.

All fixtures, apart from the 2.30pm kick off at Broughty, are scheduled for 1.30pm.
